Dusk IDE on Mac, iPad, Windows and Linux · updated 26 October 2026
Short version: Dusk has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your code and files stay on your device and go only where you send them, such as the git remotes you push to.
What stays on your device
The folders you open, your files, settings, open tabs, crash-recovery copies of unsaved work and plugin data are stored locally by the app. Dusk Engineering never receives them.
What leaves your device, and only when you ask
- Git hosts you connect. When you clone, fetch, pull or push, Dusk talks to that repository's server (for example GitHub, or your own Helix Forge). If you sign in to GitHub or Helix Forge in the Forge panel, the access token you paste is encrypted with your system's secure storage (the Keychain on Mac and iPad) and is sent only to that service.
- Report a Problem. If you choose to send a report, it contains the description you write, the email address you type (optional), the Dusk version, your operating system and the last errors Dusk recorded. You see exactly what is included before sending. Reports go to a private queue on Dusk Engineering's server and are used only to fix problems.
- Language servers and tools (desktop). The Mac, Windows and Linux apps run language servers, debuggers, terminals and AI agent tools on your own computer. Anything those tools send is between you and them.
- Update and plugin checks (direct-download desktop builds only). These builds ask GitHub whether a newer release exists, and the plugin browser downloads the public plugin list from this website. The App Store editions do neither.
What Dusk Engineering collects
Nothing from the app beyond problem reports you choose to send. There are no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no data is sold or shared with third parties.
This website counts page views without cookies. It records the time, page, referring site and a coarse operating system (Mac, Windows, Linux, mobile), and never stores IP addresses or fingerprints.
Your choices
Everything Dusk stores lives in its own app data. On iPad, deleting the app removes it, including projects kept in On My iPad › Dusk, so move anything you want to keep first. On a Mac it's in ~/Library/Containers/com.duskengineering.dusk (App Store edition) or ~/Library/Application Support/Dusk (direct download).
To have a problem report you sent deleted, email us and we'll remove it.
